Channel Foundation’s grantmaking has focused on supporting and promoting leadership in international women’s human rights since 2006. We are honored to support and collaborate with outstanding grantee partners around the world in the following focus areas:
Advancing Indigenous Women’s Rights and Leadership
Support for strengthening the indigenous women’s rights movement.
Ending Violence Against Women and Protecting Women Human Rights Defenders
Support for campaigns working to end all forms of violence against women and trans people through litigation, legal and policy advocacy, and by promoting behavioral and societal shifts. Support for integrated and collective security for women and trans human rights defenders.
Eradicating Legal Inequality
Support for campaigns to end legal inequality for women (including land, inheritance and resource rights) via advocacy and education of parliamentarians, law enforcement, judiciary, the media and the public at large.
Securing Sexual & Reproductive Rights/Justice
Support for young feminist voices setting priorities around sexual and reproductive rights and health in the belief that these are key to shifting women’s status. Support for ending stigma and for safe abortion access.
Women’s Leadership & Human Rights Institutes
Support to strengthen movement building institutes in the global south.
Amplifying Gender Equality in Media & Technology
Support for amplification of women’s voices in the media and in technology via community radio, journalism, media and communications training, and coverage of gender issues.
Ensuring Women’s Participation in Conflict Resolution & Peacebuilding
Support for dismantling militarism and for implementation and localization of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 which mandates the inclusion of women at all levels of peacebuilding.
Promoting the Rights of Women with Disabilities
Support for advancing the rights and agency of women with disabilities and towards their full inclusion and elevation within the women’s rights movement globally.
Strengthening the Women’s Funding Movement
Support for women’s funds to continue strengthening the women’s movements in the countries and regions in which they are based via grants, convening and collaboration.
